Why Is the City of Jerusalem Important in Islam? In Arabic, Jerusalum is called "Al-Quds"—the Noble, Sacred Place. Jerusalem is perhaps the only city in the world that is considered historically and spiritually significant to Jews, Christians, and Muslims alike.
